In a new RN in Detroit MI. I sent my resume to many area hospitals and haven't got any interviews. So, I'm biting the bullet and going to work in a SNF/LTC home. I have 2 offers and am not sure which one i should take. My goal is to get into DMC, Henry Ford or Beaumont or U of M (local hospitals) and I'm looking for insight as too which would look best:
Option 1: night shift 11p-7:30a. 120 bed facility. Nice staff. From what i have found online, a good reputation. ---- my fear with taking with taking this shift, lack of Patient care and meds. I worry the lack of experience would AGAIN make it hard to get into a hospital
Option 2; day light 7a-3:30p. 103 bed facility. Staff didn't seem as nice and the facility was really old but the do offer pretty extensive training which shocked me. I think here, i would have more patient care, time management skills, and more interaction with other departments.
SO..... I'm new to the area, so i don't have much to go on. My goal is a hospital. I know that there are VERY big differences between hospital and home......
My questions:
1. does it really matter since its a completely different setting?
2. If it does matter, Which would be best?
