What is an admissions nurse for a hospice company?

What are they primary duties?

Do they just admit and educate the family the one time and then move on to another patient?

Thanks!

i don't know what this companies job description entails, but where i work they do the admission paperwork/documentation, the initial skin assessment, and ask a few interview questions. that's about it. it can be time consuming depending on the patient.

At our hospice an admissions/triage nurse will assess a patients readiness for hospice care, explain the process to the family, and get them "started" with the Hospice program. They will not be the patients regular nurse, but will introduce them to all that hospice has to offer and get them started. They will then be assigned to a team for the rest of their care.

That's what our hospice coordinator does.

Hmmm, sounds like a nice job. Thanks Guys!
