Admission letter for the nursing program

Published

Hello, I am writing my admission letter and would love to hear feedback on it. Please tell me your honest opinion on my letter because just like everyone else who is applying is trying to make their paper stand on.

I knew nursing was my calling since I was a child, I helped for my paternal grandfather who suffered from three heart attacks and my paternal grandmother who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. By helping them gave me this feeling of accomplishment and motivation to help others who are in need of help or are unable to care for themselves anymore. I volunteered at my local hospital in the hospice unit, where I got the opportunity to get a better understanding of what a nurse handles on a day-to-day basis. I learned while volunteering in the hospice unit the skills and knowledge to know how to address individuals facing an end of life issues, and how proper palliative care is administered, in addition, learning how to correctly approach mortality. I worked with elderly patients who suffered from dementia, arthritis, respiratory diseases, osteoporosis, and so on. Though I worked with elderly patients, and I enjoy every aspect of it, my heart is set on becoming a pediatric nurse. This opportunity inspired me more to pursue my dreams of becoming a nurse.

The nursing program will be a challenge and an adventure for me, but I plan to be successful in the nursing program by staying organized by utilizing schedules, always being prepared for classes, always attending classes, joining a study group with my fellow classmates, communicating with my fellow peers, and balancing my social and work life. I am also planning on using outside sources because you can only learn so much from the text or teachers. Also, I am planning on contacting current nurses. So I can ask them questions that I may have a problem with or to find out what they did to be successful in the nursing program.

I am also planning on using websites the like Mayo Clinic and the American Diabetes Association, to learn more. I am planning on using that as a preview and that my text book and instructor are the final, correct authority. I am already signed up for numerous medical-related and healthcare news sites. I chose to do that because I want to be aware of what's happening in the healthcare field and how it can affect myself, my family, and my future patients.

When it comes to nursing school, we are learning on how to take care of our patients, but while we are in school and while we are working we have to remember that we have to take care of ourselves. So I will be studying throughout the week. I will be studying o

n my downtime and also making sure that I'm taking breaks. I will be investing in high-quality shoes. Because I know that nursing school can be strenuous on your body, especially your feet. We are studying to take care of someone, how can we be depended on to do that if we don't do it for ourselves from the start?

Although, balancing multiple classes, work, and family life has been difficult I've managed to show perseverance and a strong performance in my all of my classes. I have accomplished many of my goals thus far in my life and I am determined and dedicated to doing what it takes to accomplish my dream goal of becoming a registered nurse. I can apply my knowledge and skills that I have learned throughout my experience of already working in the healthcare field to the nursing program.

After completing the nursing program, I plan on working in the hospital as a registered nurse and continuing my education in hope of working in the neonatal unit as a pediatric nurse. The day my daughter was born she had to have emergency surgery, due to a bowel obstruction, while she stayed at the hospital I witnessed several infants who had no family support or sympathy. I believe my friendly and energetic personality is what draws children of all ages to me. The feelings I get when I see a child smiling gives me this warm feeling, a feeling that I could be potentially making a change in their life.

With my experience and knowledge, I believe that I can make an impact on society and my fellow peers in the nursing program due to my strong work ethic, communication skills and my drive to succeed can influence and motivate those around me. I feel that I was given a gift that most people don't have. I`m hoping that I will be given the opportunity to contribute to my community and to help change lives. I don't believe there is any other profession that would bring me as much joy and happiness as becoming a nurse.

From a very young age, my life has been leading me to nursing. From me having to learn how to read a nutritional label for my brother who has a severe peanut allergy, to my grandparents falling ill, to my daughter being hospitalized. My life has been surrounded by the medical field in various ways. I have watched nurses treat my family like their own. I have seen them treat my family like they are the only ones that they are currently taking care of.
