Hello,
I am a nursing 102 student, and in campus clinical we are currently learning about various routs of administering medication. Instuctions for ear drops has you pull on the ear in different ways for Kids and Adults... I asked if ther was a way to define that further, as to an age, weight or size... Not knowing the answer my instructor asked me to find out...
Any feedback?
I assume we should ask patients if they feel drops went in sufficiently as well...

I was taught for children 3 and under, the pinna is pulled down and back due to the angle of the eustachian tube in this age group. It's at more of a horizontal angle than in adults. I don't believe weight would affect anything but the dose being adminstered.
Thanks! That makes sense to me.
