Adamson University Question

Published

My question is about Adamson University in Manila. My question pertains to how well excepted is their nursing program in the US?

In short, after graduating will or is their nursing program be excepted in the US?

And also does anybody have a general idea the cost would be for an individual per semester and or per year?

Thank you for your time Kris,

Hi.

I'm not from Adamson University, but I can tell you how the Philippine's nursing programs are evaluated.

Generally, your nursing education here will be accepted in the US. Nursing schools in the Philippines follow a certain curriculum. And all should be meeting the minimum guidelines set by CHED. If the school really follows the mandate of CHED, then you shouldn't have any problem, even if you study in Adamson. But may not always be the case. Let's say for example there's a for-profit school out there that lacks a certain competency on the eye of the US evaluators. Like fewer hours on Psyche, or OB, or MedSurg, etc.

Your credentials will not be evaluated based on the school you came from. But rather on the actual training you got. You will pass through an evaluation from some agencies (CGFNS, IERF, ERES, etc, depending on the State), that will in turn let your State Board of Nursing know that your education meets the standard.

The only problem I foresee, is if you are the first graduate of a certain nursing school to apply for such evaluation. They may ask more paperworks. Not like from the schools with thousands of graduates already passed this stage. The evaluator will have a guide/basis on them. But I may be wrong.

And if you are worrying about the perception of employers that nurses from this school is better, then worry not. It will still be based mostly on your experience.

God Bless!

Thank you for your reply.... I've learn something from your post that just gave me a better insight of what I should be looking for or atleast know how the state base the nursing schooling in the philippines.

I have one more question to ask of you and that would be the cost I should be expecting if I am accepted in Adamson i.e. semester, year or what every you can provide me, I seen what they have on their site but I would like to hear it more then once or atleast from other sources.

Thank you for taking the time Kris,

As I have said, I am not from Adamson so I don't know what to tell you. But expect a considerable amount of budget if you want to astudy nursing. Tuition may be high. Plus the amount you have to spend on books (lots of them), on travel expenses from one hospital to another, on projects, etc.

I graduated at Adamson, currently 2010 july board passer. If your asking about the tuition fee, it increases as you increase your level. I started there, about 15,000 tuition fee books arent included yet. they are very strict with being punctual, grooming and studies.
