So because I haven't been in school in forever, I took the accuplacer Thursday. I did well on the English portion (119/116) and fairly well on elementary algebra (99), then I CHOKED on college level math, really, 26 points.
Now I obviously don't need any remedial courses and can finish my pre-reqs in time to apply for Fall 2014, but should I retake the accuplacer to increase my chances of acceptance? Or am I over worried?
I am confident that I can get all A's, as I don't have to balance a job and have always done very well in learning situations, it's just that college level math score is freaking me out!
I don't have a lot of college choices and would be a little disappointed if I didn't get in.

Good day:
When I took the accuplacer, I got a 73 in elementary algebra (I've not been in school since 1984) so I didn't even get to the college level math area that requires at least an 80 in elementary algebra to kick in.
I don't know if it is school specific, but at the community college I'm attending, if you get a 53 or higher in college level algebra, you test out of the math they require as a prerequisite to their nursing program.
So what I'm doing is spending time on khanacademy.org working to build up my math skills so I can re-take just the math portion of the test with the goal to get an 80 or higher in elementary algebra and get at least a 53 on college level math.
At the community college I'm going if you fail the placement test a second time, you need to wait six months to take it again. So if I take the test and don't do well enough, I'll either take the math requirement this coming fall (right now, I'm in several summer classes) or continue at khanacademy.org and try again in six months (putting off the math until the spring / summer semester of next year).
Thank you.
