I am already a student at USA in the NP program and got in with a 3.3 GPA and 9 yrs. experience. My friend has applied for the summer term and is waiting to hear (they have until April 1st to get back with him.) We are in agony, I'm rooting for him because he would be an EXCELLENT NP. He has over 15 yrs. experience in a variety of settings from acute hospital care to state surveyor. His concern is that his GPA is only 2.9. He gets more discouraged with each passing day that he doesn't hear anything.
Is there any words of wisdom, knowledge or hope any of you have that I can pass on to him?

GPA is important, but isn't everything. Most schools look at the applicant as a whole, including experience (both job and life) and recommendations. Does USA interview applicants? Perhaps he could call and ask about the status of his application. Waiting is hell....I remember the agony. He should try not to get discouraged-he still has a month in which he could hear.
