Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone. I am currently taking my prereqs at a local community college right now and will be moving to san diego in june of 2015. I have been trying to find colleges with advanced bsn programs since I have my bachelors already I can at least use it to apply to the program. What colleges are out there? What has your experience been with the college(if any)? how many go on and get jobs or does the school help with that process? and most but not least $$$ cost of school? application process? Thank you very much!!

Hi Michael,

I do not live in San Diego. I live in MN. However, I have some tips you may find useful. If you ever want to find a list of nursing schools in any state just got the that states board of nursing website. There will be a list there. Each states calls their board something different but it usually not to hard to find. Once there look for something about education or schools. From there you can usually find a list of schools. Most times you can also find the NCLEX (the test nurses take to become RNs) pass rate for each school.

In NY it is called the Office of Professions Nursing.

NYS Nursing:Nursing Programs

In CA it is called Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Registered Nursing

Board of Registered Nursing - RN Programs

You mentioned you have a bachelors degree and are looking for an accelerated program. Just an FYI, some programs give you a bachelors in nursing and some give you a general masters in nursing. Note that is not a NP masters. It is a general masters in nursing. So when looking for schools look for key words like fast track/accelerated BSN or fast track/accelerated MSN.

Good luck!

Hope you find this helpful.

Howard
