You may want to look at associate RN programs. Afterwards you can do an RN to MSN bridge program when you decide to go back to school to get a graduate degree. I'm almost finished at UMDNJ and honestly will tell you they are a stickler for that 3.0 undergrad GPA.
Don't give up, you just may have to go a different route.
hi! i also graduated from tcnj in '09 and am trying to get into an Accelerated BSN program! from what i've seen nj schools mostly prefer at least a 3.0 gpa. have you considered looking outside of nj? i know that desales university (pa) for sure requires at least a 2.5. also, there are some schools in ny you could look into. but if you really want to stay in nj, then i agree with glad2basn. even if you have to go an alternate route or take a lil longer, if you really want to be a nurse don't up!

I know different variations of this topic have been beaten to death, but I wanted to see if I could gain any insight specifically from those that attempted ABSN programs in the NJ area with low GPA's. I graduated in 2009 from TCNJ with a 2.87. I've completed AP1 with an A, and I am currently taking AP2 and Lifespan Development (so far so good grade wise). I realize B's are not an option. After some internet digging I've discovered that my chances of getting into a ABSN in New Jersey are realistically low with an undergrad GPA under 3.0. In fact it is part of UMDNJ's policy to not even consider a GPA under 3.0. It's quite frustrating to think about when I recall the classes, professors, and circumstances that resulted in C's. But, woe is me. Admissions officers won't be bothered with all that so I am coming to terms with the reality. Does anyone have any advice, or am I doomed by my bad college GPA? What are my options?
