Accelerated BSN or entry level MSN

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everybody!

This is my first message. I am a rising 3rd year at UVA, currently enrolled as an English major in the Liberal College. However, I have decided to become a nurse after going over several other occupations. I have even considered transferring to the school of Nursing @ UVA yet I chicken out due to my lack of experience and GPA required. Yet I am reconsidering Nursing once again, I am excited by all the possibilities nursing offers. In addition I think the load of work will keep my boredom at bay. Anyway I have been doing some extensive research about accelerated programs for those who have or will have a bachelor's degree in something else. I am torn between which accelerated program I should choose: BSN or MSN. I would like to eventually later on become a NP. As of now I am trying to get into an Anatomy class however I am skeptical because I'm not the greatest in science YET I'm determined to try and succeed. I am wondering if I should try to complete my prerequisites-- that so many programs require --now which might mess up my GPA or wait till after I graduate? Also, I am planning to take CNA classes yet I was wondering if I could take them online or should I take them at a CC in the summer?

Wow! so yeah lots of questions. Thanx for any responses!

PS. I will be volunteering at a clinic or hospital this upcoming school year
