Accelerated Boston nursing schools/programs

]Hey everyone!! This is my very first post; I'm new to the site and have loved reading everything that I've come across. I recently graduated from Regis College last May with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Biology. I've known for some time that I wanted to be a nurse, but I chose not to pursue it at my alma mater for various reasons which I won't mention here. I've been in school at a community college taking classes as pre-reqs to apply to an accelerated BSN program. My current choices are UMass Boston, Curry College, and MCPHS Worcester. I was wondering if anyone would know of the minimum GPA (overall and pre-requisite) that these schools would accept as well as the lowest grade possible the admissions committee would overlook when thinking about the students they wish to accept?? (i.e. B- in microbiology) My undergrad GPA isn't the best thing, but my community college GPA is currently at a 3.343 and can still go up after this semester and after summer courses are over. I don't know what my pre-req GPA is (and if someone knows how I can calculate it please show me :D), but so far I've been doing great taking and re-taking the necessary classes.

]I have looked into possibly starting through a traditional track but some schools are pickier than others. I looked into all four of the UMass schools and only got a response from two of them. I did contact Salem State as well and have yet to hear what they have to say. Also, could any of you please tell me what you think about these schools and how the admissions process went or is going for you. Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated. I would also love to hear about any experiences from those in my position as well as others who have been there and done it all xD... I can't wait to read what you all have to say :p

Welcome to allnurses!

I'm not sure of the minimum GPA for your undergrad degree, but it's much less important than the pre-reqs. Try to get as high as possible for the sciences. I think for all the schools you mentioned, a C is the minimum acceptable grade.

Thank you LGD! If you don't mind me asking, what schools are you looking into?

I applied to Curry. I really wanted to go to MGHIHP, but I missed last year's application date and this year's isn't until after I hear back from Curry. I've heard great things about MCPHS, but Worcester is too far for me to commute. Simmons also has a great reputation, but so expensive!

I'm hoping to hear good news from Curry next month and be done with doing pre-reqs for all the different programs.

I hope you get in!! :) I've looked at Simmons and I agree its too much and I refuse to take Organic Chemistry (I hated it in college and would never take it again). Again, I feel that MGHIHP is expensive and the price seems to go up every year and some of their requirements make me feel as though my application would never even be considered. I picked Curry and UMass Boston because if there is snow I can still take the MBTA to class and not have to miss anything. As for MCPHS Worcester, I like how often their application process occurs, since you don't have to wait a whole year to apply/reapply to their program. Also, I'd be okay with moving out there to go to school if I got accepted.

It's still early for me to look at other schools before I start applying so I'm hoping for somewhere good and affordable :twocents:
