Accelerated Bachelor's to DNP for Midwifery or standard BSN path

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hi, there! I have been reading threads here for a few years, but didn't join until today. I began nursing prerequisites a number of years back and finished with my associate's and a 4.0 a couple of years ago. I have since trained as a doula (working independently right now) and am applying to work for Providence, which will give me some good experience.

I have been exploring my options and want to give myself the best possible chance of getting into OHSU for the Midwife program. I would love to go to the doctorate level :). So, for those of you with experience in getting into school, what would be my best option? Should I do a degree completion program to finish my bachelor's degree and then do the accelerated bacc to DNP for midwifery? Or should I still beat my head against the wall trying to get into one of the community college nursing programs, get my BSN, then work in l&d (which I hear is impossible to get as a new grad), then apply to the midwife program? It seems like it might be slightly better odds to apply directly to the accelerated program since I am very focused on what I want, but I don't want to set myself up for failure, either. I will only be applying to OHSU, as I have a husband with a stable job and 3 kiddos here. He will support us income-wise while I am in school, so relocation is not a possibility.

Thanks fellow nurses!
