ABSN Programs-Questions about Application Process

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I am currently an undergraduate student entering my senior year. I will be graduating in the spring of 2015 with a degree in biology. My current GPA is around a 3.4 and I hope that it will improve by the end of my senior year. I am interested in attending a ABSN program. I have completed most of my prerequisites with the exception of 1-2 classes.

I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone could help me with. First, am I considered a competitive application with a GPA of 3.4 ? I have noticed that almost all of the ABSN programs have a requirement of a 3.0 to apply, but I was wondering if anyone has an idea of what the average accepted GPA to these programs is. Also, what weight do factors such as volunteer experience, leadership roles, recommendations, and the personal statement play in the application review process ?

Finally, if anyone has any recommendations for ABSN programs that they have attended or have experience with, that would be great ! (searching for schools has been a bit overwhelming)

Thank you !!!
