I'm so glad to be done with school and all the "cosmic love" that went along with it.

You had my attention until you referenced Jean Watson. I'm a big proponent of the holistic component of nursing, which is why I'm opposed to quacks who give holistic care a bad name, with Jean Watson being the Queen of nursing quackery. Those who feel free to reference Watson are clearly under the impression that nursing has no standards, those who hold this belief should not be allowed to continue to hold a nursing license.

That is a "philosophical "view of the patient- nurse relationship. Not gonna happen in the real world.

We had a patient drink his own urine tonight.

Actually, yoganurse, I love the whole holistically spiritual approach to nursing and we do need to be reminded of its tenets from time to time.

However, right now I'm more concerned with trying to keep an eye on this patient and prevent him from consuming his own excretions.

I've had a healthy dose of nursing theory and the only thing that I took away from it all was a profound disbelief that someone could peddle such complete nonsense that would later be taken seriously-Academia at its best. PhD=Piled High and Deeper

1. You triggered my pseudo-PTSD with mention of one of the chief B.S. (NOT bachelor's of science) nursing theories. For shame.

2. Why would you mention Florence Nightingale- who actually did real and valuable things- in the same posting as J. Watson whose major accomplishment is causing the aforementioned nursing student PTSD?
