developing critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills
wednesday, march 17, 1:00-2:00 pm est
presenter: pamela webber, phd, aprn, fnp-bc, professor, shenandoah university and co-author of an introduction to theory and reasoning in nursing
nursing has studied critical thinking and reasoning for three decades, but the profession now has numerous synonyms (nursing process, problem solving, clinical decision making, and critical analysis just to name a few), but little insight into how to assist students in developing and applying advanced thinking skills. progress may have been impeded by our traditional focus on outcomes of thinking as opposed to the process of thinking itself. learn more about how critical thinking has evolved as an area of inquiry and get practical suggestions for developing thinking skills in students.
