A question about majoring in pediatric nursing!

In the US, you don't actually major in any particular field during nursing school. You'll have to learn the whole range from adult, psych, maternal/neonates, and pediatrics, and in some cases, community health.

Once you graduate, you can choose to specialize in a particular field just by working there. You can take the opportunity to become certified in your specialty, and attend seminars and classes as well as reading journals related to your field.

Like cyberkat said, you get a degree in nursing. In order to get your degree you get experience in many fields. If you think peds or neonatal nursing is your thing you may be able to do a nursing externship in that field. You would work with a nurse on her schedule outside of school. I highly recommend this as you will experience the real world of nursing and it can help you decide if this is really the area you want be in.

Thanks!! I wasn't to sure how to go about it!! I read a couple books and looked on websites and they weren't very clear! So I thought I would come to some people who understood and were in the nursing career!
