Hi everyone- My name is Michelle and I'm new to this site- it's fab and I'm :hatparty: absolutley hooked. I want to give a big shout out to all pre-nursing students- hip, hip, hooray - be proud of yourself and the path you have choosen. No-one said it was going the be easy. :rotfl:
I'm looking for some sound advice from all you pre-nursing students in particular those of you who are desperatley trying to attend the SDSU BS nursing school -I'm sure many of you are familiar with the point system that is being used to evaluate students entrance into the program-(87 points max)- Ok to make a long story short I have completed all of my Nursing pre- req's except O-Chem which was absoultley horrible- I ended up dropping half way through the semester and plan to re-take it next spring. If I get a B in that class I will have a total of 68 points (grades, Volunteer work etc)however i still have a possible 10 points that can be obtained by taking the EPT -English placement Test(as I am transfering). The SON program wants you to acheive a 10 or above score on the essay portion in order to earn those points- thing is I am horrible at writing and was told by a handful of people that to get such a score you have to demostrate a high level of competency and proficiency in you writing skills. I have called both the Testing center and English center to see if I can find a tutor or someone who could help me prepare for this- however as I am only a transfer student SDSU will not go out on a limb to help me out-
My concern is that when I called the SON program they informed me that the last person accepted into the program this Fall 05 had 69 points- Whew!! I am not planning on transferring untill the Spring of 07- and it seems every semester the level of applicants are raising the bar- So I guess in a nutshell I really, really need those 10 points from this EPT test- That would put me at 78 points- Then I could sleep a little better at night.
Anyone out there got any advice- going through the same thing- please, please let me know???? I really need some sound advice
Cheers
Michelle
