Well. I'm finishing up prereqs, applying to nursing programs like crazy (whee!), but I'm a little down about A&P. Now, I know it's one of the harder ones. And trust me, I expected to have to work. And I do!!
But I'm doing these courses as 8-week intensives, and I missed a class due to a previos committment (going out of state with a friend -- and the last time we had travel plans I had to pull out at the last minute due to my job, which didn't go down to well... so I really didn't want to go down that road again).
So, I missed a lecture (on muscular), a lab practical and a test (on skeletal). I got to make up the test I missed (it went horribly, I got a 50), do a test on the lecture I'd missed (also didn't go well), and I'll have a 0 for the lab practical, as you can't make those up.
Guh.
I had been doing so well, too, my average until this was just below 90! I was happy I would have this to look good on my transcript and that I'd be in a good position to ask for an academic reference at the end of this.
I completely recognizet that I made a decision that probably wasn't a good one (eh, life happens eh?) and lost my groove/stride a little bit. And I'm hoping that if I work hard, do well in the final (which is worth double regular tests) and get a good grade in my research paper, combined with that I've done the reading questions, lab sheets and extra credit online quizzes I should be okay... I hope. I guess I'm just a bit discouraged.
It's a blanacing act. But I guess it's never too late to get back on the tightrope..! Does anyone else have any stories of things like this?

Yes, absolutely. I was doing fine and then about two weeks ago I got sick for four days, the first two of which were the weekend and I had planned to study/do homework all weeked. I had 102 fever, felt like I could barely get out of bed, let alone cram the entire axial skeleton into my head and do 5 packets.
Huge practical a day later, I did horribly. After a first few bone markings I couldn't remember, I tensed up and thought "I can't remember anything!" and ended up with just about a 50% on the practical.
But you know what? I'm not going to beat myself up about it and neither should you. We can't be perfect on every single exam, life happens, and all we can do is move forward and do great on the next one.
=)

Agreed. :redpinkhe I hope you are feeling better! Good luck with the rest of the course!
