A.A.S. Nursing Degree?

Hello everyone,

I am brand new to this forum and I am trying to find some help. I have already completed my Bachelors of Science in Psychology and am wanting to start my career in nursing. I am looking into the AAS program for nursing because I already have a BS. The thing that is confusing me is that when looking at being hired is it considered ok to have a AAS and a BS even if the BS is not in nursing? I would also consider later continuing my education in the form of a RN to MSN option if available. I am just confused if I would even be considered for hire if I do not have a BSN. Please help!

It's OK -- but be sure the courses you take as part of the AAS program will be accepted by the types of schools you will want for your RN-MSN program. Sometimes, the AAS degree is used by techincal schools, trade schools, proprietary schools, etc. that are not fully accredited in the academic world -- and whose credits (and degrees) are not transferable to the higher level academic institutions.

In other words, make sure that the schools you might want to attend for your RN-MSN program will accept the credits that you would get in the AAS program.
