Did you know that the POTUS can rename the DoD to the Department of War? It sounds like maybe this was Pete's idea. Pete behaves as if appearances are the most important aspect of the military.

It is ironic that the guy who calls himself the president of peace doesn't want a defense department but wants a war department instead.

They know they need congressional approval first but are doing it anyway.

  I don't necessarily mind the name change so much as I don't like the language surrounding it.  Hegseth said ""We're going to go on offense, not just on defense. Maximum lethality, not tepid legality. Violent effect, not politically correct....We're going to raise up warriors, not just defenders."  Key word that stood out to me was "violent effect" and "we're going to go on the offense".   What does that mean?

Apparently in the 40's it was changed by radial woke liberals.

It's interesting language to use about the military as the POTUS deploys NG to DC, deployed Marines in LA, and talks about deploying other NG and active duty troops to other American cities.  While they contemplate armed military occupation of cities hand picked by the POTUS, the military wants to advertise that they are no longer focused upon defense but rather on violent lethality. 

It's also intersting that the administration that established an entire department focused on government efficiency and waste thought that this is a good way to spend time and money.

Why it matters: Language that seemingly threatens to wage war on an American city is a significant escalation from Trump who has already deployed the National Guard to support his immigration crackdowns in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

It appears that Trump and his Secretary of War want some American citizens to be afraid of the military that they support with their tax dollars.  Do you think that either Trump or Hegseth care about the Posse Comitatis Act? 

The actual communication from the POTUS. He apparently has no sense of what is or is not appropriate. Holy hell. This reads like the president of peace is declaring war on an American city.  

I don't recall Russia threatening a member of NATO with drones on Biden's watch.  

Was Trump's mouth slightly droopy on the right today? 

The president is working through his grief over the death of Charlie Kirk. A reporter offered condolences and asked how the president was doing. Trump proceeded to brag about his new ballroom.

He sounded sincerely grief ridden, right? The death was certainly an opportunity for Trump to widen the emotional gap between liberals and conservatives with his immediate rhetoric.  The threats were surely based in the grief that we see and hear in this clip, right?

Did anyone doubt that Trump lacks empathy?

I haven't heard/read anything about it. Given current political trends here, I suspect it will be firmly censored out completely. Will it be available online, do you think?
