Hello Nurses,

You will have to excuse me but I am still a little dizzy over our win of that game in Arizona. Anybody else? LOL!!!!

So, I swapped shifts with a co-worker so she could spend Christmas with her kids, and for reasons still not clear to me, the scheduling gods required us to do a parallel swap around New Year's. No problem, at the time--I'd be working the 2nd, but at least I'd be off for the WV vs Missouri national championship game.

Well, poop.

The only play I got to see was after the whole staff rushed to a room to see what all the screaming and yelling was about. I think we all fully expected to find a Sentinel Event in progress, but it was just a touchdown.

Hi Mike,

What can I say but you missed a great game. I have never seen the players so committed to doing a job. It seemed like they were showing and telling everyone RR was not needed. Now, I think the U needs to say thanks to RR for building a great team and then having the sense to leave, he was no longer committed to the place and left. He did the leaving in a shabby manner, that is what rankles the most, but now we need to look to the future and get behind the school and make sure we remain a force to be reckoned with here in the East. Funny but I like OSU too. I think one day we will see a great game between these two schools.

So work is going well?? I am on the hunt, may end up in an entirely new place. Just want to get back in harness for awhile. Hope you have a great '08. Keep smiling.

Hi, barefoot!

I work at Ruby, where every away game is a great game! (Parking, traffic, trauma admits--home games aren't so fun.)

Work is good, though I'm still hoorifice and tire easily after a bout of bronchitis that had me off a couple of weeks. Now I'm playing on allnurses when I should be filling out STD paperwork--uh, Short Term Disability, that is. (A cute female co-worker did have bronchitis before I got it, but I don't think I got it from her, and if I did it was only casual contact.) I almost hate to admit it, but one of the bad things about being sick (in addition to the being sick part) was that I missed so much work, I was starting to really miss the godforsaken dump. I wonder if I might be "institutionalized," like that old guy in The Shawshank Redemption. Just kidding, though. I never hesitate to recommend Ma Ruby to anyone who is interested in working there. Like any Ma, she'll drive you nuts, but you gotta love her.

Getting back on the topic of WV Nursing, I've heard rumors that RR left over conflicts with the administration. Don't know, but I suppose there are times when leaving without notice can be justified, somewhat. I am tickled about the new coach, though, and like a lot of people, my reaction in the aftermath of the Pitt game was, "Don't let the screen door hit you on the way out."

A happy and prosperous '08 to all nurses and all 'Eers.

Mike,

I am sorry you have been sick. Yes, I believe you got the bug in a casual way. LOL! And I do know what you mean about missing work. Some of the things we do is nuts but we seem to need to be doing them. I never had to fill out paperwork for STD, but if one has to do it, then it is good it is for disability, not a casual contact sheet. Sorry, my mind is so bad these days. LOL! My friend takes her son to Ruby for some sort of special eye treatments and exams about every 6 months, she loves the place. I have never been there.

Yes, the whole state has heard the rumor about RR having trouble with administration but I just wonder, was he wanting a new job with Michigan and made demands he knew the administration would not meet? The place rolled out all stops for him last year, so I wonder what the bottom line was. Now, I know everybody has to do whatever they need to do for their well-being, but I wonder if RR will get the support he had at WVU and even here in the state???? Nehlan was not always so winning, but we stuck behind him as long as we thought he was producing/trying. Pitt was a lapse in attention for the coaches and players. Something was in the air.

Well I hope you feel better soon. A little Royal with honey and lemon juice soothes the throat before sleep. At least that was the excuse Granny gave. Have a great day and keep smiling.
