Public Health/Community Nursing volunteer work?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to be exposed to the community health aspect of nursing, as I am interested in applying for Seattle U's APNI Leadership and Community Nursing program. I really want to make sure this is something I'm passionate about before I go through the program and end up with a very expensive degree.

For those who practice in Community Health, or are currently enrolled in Seattle U's LCN track, what sort of work are you doing, or plan to do afterwards?
