New Grad hoping to move to Seattle Area

  1. Hi Everyone,

I'll be graduating this May with my BSN and hoping to move to Seattle if I am accepted into a new grad residency program. So far, I have only interviewed with Harborview Medical Center and I am really hoping to hear back from them. In the meantime, I want to come to town for a few days and explore the area. What areas would be doable to live in Seattle if I get a job at Harborview? I have read about the commute and that is something that I want to be mindful because the job will require "call" hours. Any input about people that work at Harborview?
Any suggestions and advice would be great because I don't know anybody in the area. Thank you so much!

Hi! Do you mind if I ask of your timeline of applying to/hearing back from Harborview? I applied to Harborview recently and haven't heard back from them yet.

I am also a soon to be new grad, planning on moving to Seattle in May! I don't live in Seattle yet, so I probably can't give the best info on where to look to live.. but my fiancé lives in the Westlake area and that is where I will be living! There's a lot of great neighborhoods not too far from Harborview, just kind of depends on what type of area you are looking for/how long of a commute you would like! Best of luck to you on hearing back about a job offer!

Hi there, Sorry for the late reply but I saw your post today. So, I applied to Harborview in the beginning of March, I heard back from them almost 45 days later, then followed by an interview 2 weeks after and haven't heard anything since then. I won't be moving unless I have a job guaranteed. Best of luck and congratulations finishing up nursing school.
