Red Cross volunteering

I have a question, would volunteering with the Red Cross as an RN help count towards experience? I've been searching for a job for a long time now and was thinking of volunteering at my local Army base as a way of "getting my foot in the door" so to speak. Is this a good or bad idea?

How does volunteering and using RN skills relate to malpractice insurance? If you volunteer as an RN in a hospital, but not an employee, do you have to buy your own insurance or are you covered under the hospitals? ...

Yes they do. I am a volunteer LPN in a progressive care unit at a military hospital and I am covered under the hospital's insurance. I confirmed this with the hospital's lawyer
