Anyone here applied for vcu traditional program??? We should be hearing back from them in the next few days or so. I looked at the thread for the acclerated program and they got their letters/emails Jan 22nd(late Jan) So hopeful we get ours March 22nd, which would be tomorrow......... i'm so nervous...this whole process has taken over my life for the pass 4 years. I'm a senior this year and finishing up in the summer with a general science degree. I've been applying for the program since attending vcu :arghh: the only year i didn't apply for was for fall 2012. I really really really hope i get in this time.

Hey I sent a message to your inbox about the fb group

i added you on fb

Hello all, I am new to this thread. If you all do not mind me asking for the people accepted how did you all do on your SAT test? I am interested in VCU's Nursing Program for 2014, but I am not sure how much weight is put on the SAT. I got at least a 900 on my critical thinking and math combined, with neither score below 400 (Math-460/Critical Reading-540).

my SATs sucked.lol I sent in my ACT score 22. I took SAT and ACT 3 times!!! My SAT combo reading and math was only 880. VCU looks at the whole picture though, grades, test scores, experience, and references. I think as long as you meet over the minimum requirement, you'll be fine :) How are you doing in your courses if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you for responding, and I am happy that you got in! That is awesome. I have done pretty well in all my pre req courses with nothing below a B. However, I do not have any volunteer experience as of now. Hopefully, I can get some volunteer time in over the summer.

I'm super happy I got in too:yeah:!!! It has been a loongg road.:banghead::drowning: I've been applying since my freshmen year and I finally got in my senior year of school. I had to do a 4 year science degree, but now with nursing in the fall i still have 3 more years of school, so I can't graduate until 2016. My plan was to apply for the accelerated program but I still have 2 summer classes and I was a little wary about reapplying for regular program, but thankfully with a little push from JTCC advisor I went for it and I'm glad I did.:cat:It all been worth it!!! It also means that I only have nursing courses to focus on since my sci degree covered the rest of the co-preqs and upper electives. I also had to retake a math course and anatomy and take summer classes at reynolds for their nursing programs(LPN and RN) so just in case i was once again rejected from mcv, i could have some options available to me for other schools. That great for your prereqs!!! Get your professors that know you well to write a good letter. Don't believe all the hype of "you must have 4.0 gpa to get in" it's crap!!! A high gpa is good 3.5ish+ but it doenst have to be all A's. Also don't get discouraged if you don't get in the lst time you apply, I not trying to be discouraging or anything but they are really competitive, as long as you do well in your coursework, you'll do fine:yeah:. I got my anatomy teacher, math, and director of volunteering at Chippenham. Are you a current student at VCU?

That was some really great advice. I am happy everything worked out for you. Actually no, I am not a current student at VCU. I just graduated from TNCC, and I was recently accepted to VCU for the Fall of 2013. I am just trying to decide what route to take next for nursing: Riverside, Sentara, or VCU.
