I applied for the BSN Accelerated program for Fall 2012. My application is being reviewed in the second committee review. I was curious has anyone received notification of acceptance yet? I have a feeling maybe this week or early next?

Yes, for 2012. I live about 15 minutes away from MU, but will probably be taking the Metro & shuttle bus from the Ballston station to commute, since the tour guide during my campus visit stressed how on-campus parking was at a premium.I'm sure you'll get in, TX, but I have total sympathy with your nerves. My application was really strong, but I was convinced I would be rejected. I had to turn down an acceptance offer from another ABSN program (in my home state of Ohio) two years ago, due to my pregnancy & was worried I had created horrible academic karma, lol. :)
Hi Everyone! I am sad to say that a few days ago I received a rejection letter...much to my surprise. I am sad because I wont have the chance to meet each of you. But I know we will see each other around in a hospital one day.
I will get in somewhere very very soon!
Good luck!

I am very sorry, Tx.
But keep your head up & apply again next term. The NoVa/DC/MD area has a lot of good schools offering second-degree BSN programs & I'm sure you will find a match. Some I looked at were Shenandoah University, GWU, Trinity Washington & Chamberlain.
SU has rolling admissions (you can still apply for fall 2012). I think Chamberlain has classes starting every term (including summer 2012 & fall 2012) & when I visited, they seemed like a good "back up plan" if my first choices fell through.
I hope to definitely see you around! Feel free to PM me & keep in touch. :)
SU is too far but Maryland has been my #1 choice. I applied to MU on a whim but will npt be applying to them in the future. Ill be able to start nursing school Spring 2013 as originally planned. MD has a great program and is close by which is also a concern as I care for my mom. MU definitely missed out on one of the best candidates...the nursing influx has caused the "best" future nurses missed opportunities. Its a wonder people still arr accepted with 2-3 major sciences courses in progress when I completed all but 1 in progress with on 1 B out of all 4!
UMD is a great school! Sadly it is a little far for me, commute wise, given DC area traffic.
Spring 2013 is right around the corner, so at least you won't have much of a wait. :)
When I was transferring schools as an undergrad, I ran into some of the same issues, being both accepted & denied at surprising places, using the same identical application (the Common Application) & references. It was frustrating & bizarre.
I visited MU's campus & they stressed the importance of extra lab science experience being very desirable, so I would be confused, too. Your grades were very good.I have a science based undergrad (bio anthropology) & grad work (forensic science), plus experience teaching Chemistry, but that is unusual & not expected. I really doubt every admitted student was a science major, especially with prerequisite courses still outstanding.
When I was rejected from places I really wanted to go as an undergrad, I ended up calling back & talking to an admissions rep. Sometimes it was useless (lots of qualified applicants, blah, blah, blah), other times I got really helpful info (rewrite an essay, get a stronger reference, etc...). If you're genuinely curious, it might be worth a shot.

I have both an undergrad BA and MA in Corporate and Public Communication, all jobs I have had all being in health care with the most recent one working for GSK, the pharmaceutical company marketing Oncology patient education. I have worked the past 2 years at a local Johns Hopkins affiliated hospital as a patient care tech, and had stellar recommendations and beautiful essay. There is not much more I could do and was happy with everything I submitted. I can tell you that to say it was my academic record is not competitive enough is a slap in the face. I had one B as a Masters student and undergrad was in 2003! I would think my recent sciences would prove that to them. I also addressed it in my essay.
Tabby, sorry for the rant...I wish you all the best!

Silly phone. See below. :)
Tx,I never meant to imply any such thing & I apologize (profusely) if you took it that way! We've all found our way into nursing from different places & each is equally valid. :)
I was devastated by my rejection from Wellesley as an undergrad & felt it was ludicrous considering my qualifications, so I truly understand. I completely envy your prior career & healthcare experience, which are very impressive. I had to leave grad school before finishing my MFS & PhD, which is one of my biggest professional regrets. I loved my research & have vowed to continue it (in some form) when I am ready to pursue another advanced degree.
So, be very proud of what you've accomplished so far & knock 'em dead at your new school!

I applied for the Fall 2012 program as well but for the third review deadline. Does anyone know when they will call for an interview or when the acceptance letter will be sent? Would it be best for me to contact them to find out instead?
Any suggestions would be helpful :)

I also applied to MU's Nursing program for this Fall 2012. I was running a tight schedule with Shenandoah's deposit fee, so I asked our nursing admission adviser,Ms. Brown and she let me know I got in.
That was last week June 8. Again, I think it was because I had another conflict with SU's deadlines.
Thanks for the info MU_Knight. Do you think I'll be better off calling Miss Brown to see if I was accepted, or should I just wait to see what type of letter I'll be getting in the mail? Thanks in advance for your input :)
Contacting Ms. Brown would definitely be faster than waiting for a letter. I still haven't received my letter or packet yet, but have received the financial letter that has the grant information. I am going to assume that means I am accepted on record. It is interesting how nothing else has been sent. June 15 is the official date of notifications, so there is some time left if you would like to wait :). Best of luck!!
Go Saints!
