UTA AO BSN Fall 2018 Applicant - Need advice!

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hello everyone,

I'll try to keep this short.

My fiance has been an RN for almost a year and has her BSN from UTMB - Galveston.

She has always tried to talk me into becoming a nurse, but I didn't give it any thought.

I have full-time work as a financial analyst but it isn't what I had hoped it would be.

So, lately, more and more nursing seems like something I want/need to do. However, I don't exactly know where to start.

I have a BBA in Finance with a GPA of 3.3. Not great, but I sort of had school on the back-burner in my first go around.

It looks like in order to get into UTA's program as soon as possible, I will have to take a few prereqs BEFORE the January 15 application deadline. I need:

-Bio for Nurses

-A&P I

-A&P II

-Chem

-Microbiology

So, my questions are:

Does this schedule seem unreasonable while working full-time? I would obviously quit my job upon acceptance to the CON, but not until then.

8/14 - 10/16 Bio for Nurses

8/14 - 12/1 Chem

10/16 - 12/1 A&P I

10/16 - 12/1 Microbiology

Also, do you all have any other advice regarding my situation? I guess by the time I applied to the CON I'd have two additional considerations (12 UTA hours and a degree), but I know nothing of my chances or if having a different background helps... etc. Thanks for any feedback you may have!

amch, I'm not a current student & for that I apologize, but I had the same issue witty them. After receiving my 1st degree, I looked into UTA for their accelerated BSN. I was immediately overwhelmed with the calls that flowed in on a daily basis. I can tell you that my best friend graduated from UTA a few years ago & she recently was accepted into their NP program & transferred to a different University. I will tell you that I do know even if you take your pre-nursing courses with them, it isn't a guarantee that you'll be accepted. It's just a chance you must be willing to take. Have you applied to other accelerated programs in the State of TX? Corpus Christi has a very decent program from what I've been told by BSN graduates.

Hi, am an applicant for the Spring 2019 BSN online program.I wanted to apply for the Fall but am still not ready to take the ATI TEAS.

Nice guy, I am ordering the ATI TEAS Secrets & I'm using cliff note books (A&P, Biology, & Chemistry) that I purchased from Barnes & Nobles.

Thanks! When do you plan on taking the TEAS? am hoping to take mine in late March to give me some time to study

By any chance do you know if SAT/ACT is required for AO BSN if never attended school, but not fresh out of high school? Really confused. I have received several different answers.

Hi,

I'm currently in Patho.

I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks
