What do you do on your days off?

Hey everyone. I am currently in Los Angeles on a 13 week contract. Im just trying to find stuff to do on my days off. I plan on seeing the museums and stuff like that. Ive been to the beach, and did some shopping. So far ive really enjoyed going hiking. I think mostly to get away from the people in this huge city, lol. Im thinking of doing short trips here and there when I have a stretch of days off. I might go to Arizona, but I dont know what there is to do there? As far as the theme parks in California, ive been to alot of them before, and they dont really interest me. Ill go to them again when I have kids. Anyone recomend other things to do that maybe I havent thought of? I am hoping to go to the wine country area north of LA when my fiance comes down to visit in a few weeks and visit San Fancisco. Any input apreciated. I want to see as much as I can!

Santa Barbara is nice and not too far away. And on the other end of the state, San Diego is nice too.

Check out the Hearst Castle...it's totally rad and will fit in about 2-3 days for you.

i recommend hiking up to the griffith observatory. it's a pretty hike and you can look out over the whole city. lots of trails veer off of there through the canyons. wear good shoes.

also, walk down venice beach to the santa monica pier. it's a nice walk.

if you want to do more city type stuff, go downtown and go to little tokyo. they have lots of good sushi and it's like a different universe.

and as someone mentioned, take the pacific coast highway up to santa barbara. it's beautiful. you go through malibu and along the ocean the whole way. a day in santa barbara is refreshing.

hope you have fun. i would love to be in your position right now!
