So do any of you travelers take your husband and what does he do for a living?

I graduate with my BSN in April and after I have a year or so under my belt I would like to look into travel nursing more seriously. My husband is an engineer right now but would love to leave that industry....but not sure for what new career.

Specializes in Trauma ICU, MICU,Tele. PCU, IMC.

Its definitely different with your spouse, but I've seen couples make it work. My husband works from home, so it's easy for him to just pick up and go.

I had a colleague whose husband was a teacher. They would travel together and he would just pick up substitute teaching wherever they were.

My best friend whose a nurse stayed 'traveling' in the same area as her husband for up to a year. He is a mortgage broker. Then she took a contract 4 hours away in another state and did the long commute for 13 weeks to maintain her 'non-taxable status'.

It's doable, just requires some flexibility on both your ends. also know that he might not get a job as easily as you, so be prepared to be the sole breadwinner for a few months.
