Pros and Cons of Cross Country

Specialties Travel

Does anyone have any advice about the services of Cross Country TravCorps (housing, assignments, recruiters, pay, etc.)? They sound good on paper, but we all know how that can be! Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

I have talked with them several times and there pay rates are way too low. Plus they only do shared housing, if you wanted a private they charge you extra. My theory is even if you have a travelling buddy I would go with a company that does private housing because usually they will give you a higher pay rate for letting them get a 2 bedroom for the both of you. I had a friend that worked for them in Atlanta and she had to pay 400/month for her private apartment and when she had problems at the facility they never would call her back. Plus I think their incentives program is too confusing. They do offer alot of assignments, but they don't pay you anything. I have noticed the Bigger the company, the more the assignments, but the less the cash. The smaller companies pay way better and offer more perks.

Not quite true.

I work for CCTC, just finished my first assignment for them (in Hawaii) and it has been mostly smooth sailing. The apartment was excellent, the facility was as described, and the pay... well, pay in Hawaii is not high because, well, it's HAWAII! :-) I just accepted my second position in Jacksonville, so I will see how that goes, but I'm getting free private housing through CCTC. Plus, my housing here in Hawaii was free shared or private for a stipend ($350/month deducted from my paycheck). I opted for the private since I am travelling with my girlfriend.

Payroll has been exemplary and prompt, too. As far as a smaller company offering better perks, I can say from experience that a smaller company doesn't always translate into better service. There is a local travelling company based here in Hawaii that doesn't offer any better in terms of salary, the housing is marginal, and they offer 2/3 less $$$ for your rental car reimbursement. Plus, they never returned my calls. CCTC was prompt and aggressive in courting my services.

Just my .02 cents. If anyone would like more info, feel free to PM me.

Hey, thanks for the heads up on Cross Country. I will still be calling the company you told me about and using you as a reference. Is that alright with you?

Thats fine, and good luck! It took me 2 years to find a company I was finally happy with :)
