Housing out of my take home pay?

Okay, I have an offer to take a 13 week MS position that is a little over 2 hours from home. My recruiter (TruStaff) told me that they are not paying for housing/hotel and if I stay there on nights that I work I would have to pay for it myself? Does this sound right?? I thought part of travel contracts was that your housing costs were paid by the company and not you? This would be my first contract further than an hour away to where I would need a place to stay.

I am starting with them too March 12th and they never said they were going to pay for housing. I havent signed the contract yet. Pls let me know. I hope that not true because they are supposed to pay. I am also driving 3 hrs to the facility!!1

If you dont' mind my asking where is your contract at? Mine is supposed to be in WV. My recruiter actually laughed when I asked about "free housing". She told me it comes out of my pay rather they set it up for me or I find something myself. The hard thing I am finding at looking on my own is I can't view the rental and don't want to find myself in a place infested with roaches, etc. :no:

Trustaff is a travel agency that don't offer free housing. They usually pay you a higher rate $36 plus so housing isn't free. My advice is to get a room for the three nights and drive back home if you really want the assignment. If you are looking for free housing go with another agency!

Theres No Such Thing as Free Housing! Come to think of it, theres no such thing as Free Anything!

Shalimar, it all depends on how much they are paying you per hour. If its a travel job they should be giving you some kind of stipend or paying you enough to cover the hotel and still make some decent $$.

If a contract offered by an agency is advertised as a travel assignment, non-taxed money or stipend is usually offered for things such as meals, mileage, etc. The same may be offered for housing so that you can find your own housing or the agency will provide housing for you. If you are not getting these offerings, I would suggest looking at the price of lodging in the area and decide if the agreed upon pay rate is acceptable to you. Times are tough and some of the agencies bank on this fact- I hope that you are being offered an acceptable rate...good luck!

$37.00 hr and you find your own housing out of this does not sound good anywhere.

Trustaff-Not a good company!!! Traveled with them for 1 assignment, & yes, they don't pay housing, do flat rate for OT, and for 37-40 hrs. Stay away.
