Hints before traveling?

I am checking into travel nursing, which I've never done before.

If I get an assignment where I want, I will be staying w/ relatives, and will have my own car. The two agencies I'm working with have assured me that I will get a housing and travel stipend since I won't need these services. I also have my dh's health ins and short term disability ins.

What other things do I need to worry about?

I have never even spoken to a traveler, and I don't know the first thing about it.

Any info would be appreciated. :)

I talked to my recruiter, and I am getting a washer and dryer in the apt. Yay!

I have already packed my scrubs. I am so excited!!

Specializes in Med-Surg, Psych.

How many years experience is recommended before becoming a Travel RN? Also, can you do it for say just the summer months, June-September?

Thanks,

My agency told me one year of recent experience in your speciality. You can travel anytime. Most assignments are 13 weeks. There are some longer and shorter ones.
