by Williams75 Oct 3, '12I would like to have some suggestions to how to make myself more marketable for a level 1 Trauma ICU in PA. I have been in nursing since 2003(Med-surg, Telemetry and actually SICU) but because of some life events I was out of nursing from Oct 2008 until Fev 2011. It took me more than a year to get an interview for a med surg position in this bad economy. My certifications are current (CPR,ACLS & TNCC). Now I am going for Med Surg Certification. Any Advice?

- Nov 18, '12 by dcmulkeyI'm a nurse in trauma/neuro icu in florida and I'm not sure how the economy is in PA...but we are always hiring trauma nurses with any kind of experience. The fact that u used to work trauma and that u currently still hold a TNCC certificate show be gold. But then again different ppl look for different things. Good luck!Williams75 likes this.

- Nov 18, '12 by Williams75Dear dcmulkey,
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I was starting to feel discouraged. I am thinking about relocating to Fl. I am looking for a trauma one university hospital. Would you be able to give any suggestion where to apply? Will be a crazy move as I have A 3-year old but i really want to come back to ICU. Thanks again!!! - Nov 18, '12 by Williams75I wish I could unfortunately CCRN exam requires 1750 hours within 2 years period with 875 hours accrued in the most recent year preceding the examination. My last ICU position was in October 2008.
- Nov 18, '12 by ♪♫ in my ♥Quote from Williams75Whence last I looked, it wasn't *required* to be critical-care experience, however; only recommended. That was about 2.5 years ago, though.I wish I could unfortunately CCRN exam requires 1750 hours within 2 years period with 875 hours accrued in the most recent year preceding the examination.
