UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

Thanks for your comments

Yeah i need like 2 weeks so i can request off.. And ah! That's awesome if we hear by October!! For anyone in Katy who hasn't done CPR-- the fire dept is doing a course to get your certification on Oct 20th at 8.. Its 35

You work nights? Every night?

Yeah I need 2 weeks notice also for work

You work nights? Every night?

Ha pretty much. Work sucks.

There must be sometime that you guys are off. Give us an idea at least so that we can all try to meet up on the first try. It may be difficult to get everyone there, but there's really no hurry.

Start posting times you're free! Even two weeks from now.

Anytime time on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are best for me. It's hard during the week because my schedule varies each week. With enough notice I can let them know

If i have at least 2 weeks i can do any day/any time. Im off every Sunday for the most part

I can meet, I think its a great idea :) and Im free after 5 Monday-Thursday but live in Spring...30 from galleria area. Friday I work till 12...and Sunday are good for me too!

I can do any day any time as long as i find a sitter.

I just got a rejection letter from UTMB and I am devastated. UTHSC is my only option now, I really hope I get in. I wanna know what classes they used to calculate my gpa and if they counted both grades for repeated classes. UTMB used both grades and considering I had a very bad (F) first semeser in college they had my GPA as 2.9 which unfortunately wasn't good enough to get in. It is crazy what 5 F's can do to your GPA. I really hope UTH will replace the bad grade when calculating my GPA.

Dont fret! Keep praying! I am in the EXACT same boat as you. My GPA is a 2.9 based off NursingCas, I took physics over again, yet both of my grades were calculated. Do not lose hope!

Aww yeah don't lose hope! I never told you guys my story.. I was going to school to be a pharmacist.. And then when i started working in a pharmacy i realized i hated it. So i switched some classes and thankfully nursing pre reqs are very similar. It set me back one semester and i only had time to apply to uth.. Its my only option too so you're not the only one! Don't lose hope. Hopefully we all get in.. If not, don't give up. Oh and i have yo stay in Houston, so i really don't have many options besides uth.. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I only applied to UTHSC too; it seemed like most of the other BSN programs that I was looking at required the TEAS and I didn't have time to study for/take that along with the HESI (I applied sort of at the last minute because I had plans to move that fell through). Don't lose hope!

Weekends would be best for me. Or possibly Friday.

I applied to UTHSC and Texas A&M health science center.

I am free Friday, Sat, and Sun. I will start my new job on October 5th and am really excited!
