Texas Woman's & Prairie View Stats

Hi,

I am interested in applying to Texas woman's to finish the Texas core and then finally get into the program and I wanted to ask from recent students who just got into the program what their stats were, in terms of GPA and TEAS scores, including the lowest... I'm trying to compare between PVAMU and TWU, so Prairie view students are also welcome to post theirs too.... Thanks and God bless... Any other input and advice will be very welcome..

TWU is one of the most competitive schools in the state -- about the same as UT-Austin; much more so than PVAMU. Hope you get some responses from "accepted" students soon. Have you tried contacting these programs to obtain the aggregate information you are looking for?

I have contacted them but everytime I call prairie view, the lady there is super rude or never wants to give me any info, that's why I kinda had to come back here to ask accepted students...still trying to choose between uthsc, texas woman's and prairie view.

I'm a PV alum -- I graduated back in December '12. Their GPA requirement hasn't changed that much, and as I've applied in the past to all three BSN programs in Houston (4 if you count UTMB), they have the lowest GPA requirement. I think I had a ~2.75 based off their grade adjustment (other schools had me at a 3.0), mostly because they rounded down for things like an A- or a B-. That may have changed since I graduated (I doubt it -- PV liked to keep things simple).

I didn't take the TEAS test. I was in the last group to take the NET. When I was leaving, they were switching to the entrance HESI. Interesting they've moved to the TEAS.

The lady who answers the phone at the College of Nursing comes off as rude -- almost everyone in that office, with the exception of like 3 people in there, you have to develop some kind of rapport with them. I learned that at the beginning of nursing school.

I hope half of the above helped.

It did help thanks. I've been trying to project what my GPA might be and worry thatbits might be too low. And PVAMU still does the HESI. It's twu that does the teas. I'm just comparing both schools to see where I have better chances. Although the fact that PVAMU program is 2.5 years kinda bums me out. But it's better than none for sure.

If you get into all three, assuming you want to graduate "on time," you may just want to look at TWU or UT. I'm a little cynical about nursing school (I started at another program and then transferred to PV to completely start over -- long story), and honestly, it's the same crap, just in different places. TWU or UT maybe better organized in one aspect, but they'll be super unorganized in another area. A lot of my classmates thought PV was unorganized -- until two of us was were talking to another TWU student during clinical.
