I'm about to start looking around for possible job opportunities for a new grad in the Sherman/ Denison/ McKinney area. Can anyone recommend any hospitals or clinics in those areas?

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you

My mother works for Medical Center of McKinney...and she hates it. She hates the hospital, the administration, and everything else. I've been there as a student, and I thought it was terrible. I would never go there as a patient, and I would never work there. I live in McKinney, and I drive to south Dallas to work!

You are right McKinney is not good. They have poor reviews. They are scheduling some major staff meetings to improve wherever they can. TMC in Denison is a nice hospital, but they do not pay very much. :twocents: Wilson and Jones in Sherman pays more and they schedule more staff to work each shift than Denison. They rarely go without a Nurse Aide, but at TMC it happens a lot (evening and night shift). If I would have to pick I would go for the Dallas area.

Thanks for responding! :)

I'm trying NOT to commute to the Dallas area because I currently work there and am so tired of commuting 1 1/2 to 2 hours to work. That was the whole drive behind the career change. Perhaps I'll broaden my search to Allen, Denton, Gainesville and north Plano too. I really prefer to not commute longer than that. Maybe I need to consider non-hospital nursing jobs also....I'm just trying to get a schedule and job closer to home in order to make my family's lives a little easier......

I plan to work FR,SAT,SUN in Dallas (Baylor) and get my 40 hours, so I dont have to drive to work every day. :uhoh3: That way I will be at home during the week to help the kids with school and homework, and my husband will be there weekends to watch them when I am not there. I do not mind driving 1 1/2 hours on those 3 days, if I know I will be working for a great hospital with a great pay. It will be worthed for me. :)

I live in McKinney, and thought that I wanted to work in either McKinney, Allen or Plano, but after interviewing with the hospitals, I decided that I didn't really like very many of them. I work at Charlton Methodist in Dallas. I drive and hour to get there, but it's worth it for me. Keep us updated if you find anything good in the area

I will let you know if I do happen to find anything good. Please let me know if you hear anything good as well!! :wink2:

Heck, I might as well ask since I've been chatting here...what is the pay range for a new grad in our area?? I don't have any nursing experience; however, I have 8 years experience as a licensed paramedic with ACLS, PALS, etc. I realize this is not nursing, but at least I do have some experience with assessments, critical patients, etc.

Thanks for your help - I appreciate any and all advice!!

Thanks,

Margie

For the most part, the pay range aroudn this area is from $17.50 tp $21.00 an hour plus shift diffs. & weekend pay. Although there is one "hospital" in Plano that is more of a rehab. hospital, that I've been hearing from some of the girls that I went to school with that is paying $27 for days. Let us know hwere you decide to work!
