Nursing Internships In Houston

U.S.A. Texas

Specializes in ICU.

I'm currently a second year ADN student in Houston, Tx, and I'm looking for an internship in the Houston area. I know it is hard to find jobs right now, let alone an internship, but I figured I'd post anyway and see if I got any information. If anyone knows of any internship programs for ADN students or any websites that have information on the subject, I'd appreciate a post.

While its not specific to ADN nursing students, a good thing to look at is the Harris County Hospital District Transition Into Practice Program. I believe that the application opens sometime in May and you would start in June. Its far away, but there aren't many internships that open this time of year. Also look at MD Anderson's internship program. It opens a little sooner than the HCHD one but I can't remember when. You can find out when by checking the website.

One caveat: these programs, as you know, are very competitive. Find ways to make yourself stand out whether by GPA, letters of recommendation, etc. Anything else, just ask:)

Thanks for the advice, are you aware if these programs are for students, or for recent graduates, I'm looking for one I can work for while I am a student.

Yes indeed. In both cases you have to be at least halfway done with your program.

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately they will not work for me. I'm too late to apply for the Harris County Hospital District internship, though it did look interesting. As for the M.D. Anderson internship they require that you are in a B.S.N. program as opposed to an A.D.N. program, I'll keep looking for something though, wish me luck.
