North Central Texas College VS Collin College

My husband is currently in school, taking prerequisites & basics for getting his RN. He was planning on getting into North Central Texas College (NCTC) which is in Gainesville, TX. They have a 97% passing rate on the NCCLEX. However, a friend of mine is currently in the nursing program there, and informed me that he doesn't like it at all (the teachers, lack of organization, etc)....I've been looking into Collin College in McKinney, and they also have a 97% passing rate on the NCCLEX. I am not quite sure how to go about researching this....he is open to the idea of both schools, they cost about the same and are about equal distances from us! Any comments or insights would be much appreciated. Thank you! :)

Collin is excellent. I met some folks from North Central Texas College and they seemed to be a reasonably happy enough group. I cannot speak for them, but I can tell you that Collin is the ONLY program in Texas that is NLN accredited, one of only 17 in the United States and has the third highest NCLEX passing rate and retention ratios in the state for any nursing college, ASN or BSN.

Frankly he should apply to both and go wherever he gets in. I know that the vetting process for Collin is pretty tough and getting in is a real accomplishment. I do not know how difficult North Central is.

I have applied to Collin College for Spring 2013 and the wait is killing me! I don't attend school there, so I do not know anyone else who is applying. Any suggestions or calming words?
