new grad looking to relocate

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi guys. I just graduated a few weeks ago, and am sitting for NCLEX in a couple of weeks. I'm looking to relocate from where I live in NYC to Texas, preferably east Texas (closer to family.)

Can you guys tell me of any hospitals that are hiring new grads? I read that Houston is too congested for example, and I am interested in looking in smaller areas that will take me. I've applied to Scott and White (about a week ago). I applied for my license in a compact state so that I would be able to move to any of the compact states to work.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I don't know about any hospitals in east Texas, but Midland Memorials Hospital in Midland is constantly hiring new grads. The hospital has a high turnover rate, people basically only work there long enough to get experience for other jobs.

Thank you! I appreciate it.

Be cognizant that, if you relocate to Texas permanently, you would still need to obtain a Texas nursing license by endorsement even if you have an out-of-state compact license.

Thanks. I will look on the BON website and find out the details.
