I have been an LVN for 15 years and worked in rural West Texas since then. I have many years experience in clinical nursing (pediatrics, OB/GYN, and family practice), also have worked many years in the rural hospital where the LVN do it all (ER, Charge nurse, L&D, Med-Surg, OR, Post-op, telemetry, etc.), home health, hospice field nurse, hospital pharmacy director, corrections and state health dept. I fianlly decided to go back to school and get my RN after all these years, I was tired of doing the job but not getting the pay. I will be graduating in 4 weeks and will be moving back to the McKinney area. I lived there for 6 years working for Job Corps as a nurse instructor but had to move home to take care of my dad before he passed away. I am finding numerous job listings and a HUGE need for RN's in the area. These postings are asking for one year of experience, some say as an RN while the majority do not specify RN. Will any of the hospitals take my 15 years of LVN experience into consideration or in place of the one year RN experience?? Where is the best places to apply??
