Medical City Dallas Hospital Internship Feb 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I wanted to open this thread for those who applied for the Feb 2013 internship. Questions, comments, ideas, reactions, reviews or anything you can say about Medical City Dallas Hospital are welcome as well.

I did the exact same thing you guys did. I guess the only difference is that I graduated a few years ago, and I don't have any experience. That lowers my chances of getting hired even more. Plus I didn't have any connections to any hospital. I applied to possibly 100+ job openings in the DFW area, some in Houston and Austin. After 2 months of looking, I got 2 interviews. Medical City was my first choice. The other hospital already offered me a position, but I tried to drag them out because I want to know if Medical City would hire me. They told me they would let us know by the 28th of December. So I waited, but never got a call or email from them. I called the recruiter and the nurse manager a few times, and I also left them a message but never got a call back. I also emailed them both. I wish they would just let me know that I wasn't selected, and not leave me hanging. Anyway, I accepted the other hospital's offer. Since Medical City hasn't responded any of my calls or emails, I am convinced I wasn't selected.

Good luck to all of us! I'm sure you guys will soon find a job too!

Thank you for your comment. I am actually same as your situation. I graduated last year. well, now it will be a bit more than a year. and I didn't have any experience as RN. Medical City was the only hope for me cuz I didn't get any other offers from other places. But I'm sure it is not for me anymore. No one called me or emailed me anything. Recently I had an interview with a different hospital. I don't know i'm going to get it or not. but in case, I just keep applying, applying, applying.......... to all different kinds of hospitals as well. Anyways, Congratulation!! I hope you really enjoy your job and start your career as a RN successfully. Good luck!

The recruiter called me Thursday evening and offered me the position :) I am very excited to start my nursing career. Anyone that has not found anything there is a job out there with your name on it trust God and believe he has a plan for you! I am a May 2012 graduate and was starting to get really worried no experience I have only had retail jobs still currently working a retail that I started during nursing school. It's not much but its keeps gas in my car and pays the few bills I have while living with my mom. I know we all have went through so much to get our degrees and RN licenses keep applying and believing you will find something and never give up!

Wow~~~~!!!!! Congratulation!! :) It was worth to wait!! I'm so glad!! I'm wondering why it took forever for them to call you for an offer though. Anyways, It is amazing that you work for the hospital that you've always wanted to work at. I wish it could happen to me too. oh well, past is past.

Good luck with your first job as RN. Yay!!

. Thank you! So much she said that the manager still had not made her decision yet there was still a person she had to interview that is why it took so long, but she had received my messages. Keep trying girl don't give up people don't realize how hard it is for a new graduate nurse to find a position. I know you will find something soon. Keep trying Medical City maybe later on you may just have to go a different route to get into the hospital system. Good luck!

Thank you for the comment. Recently, I had an interview with one of HCA hospitals. And they gave me an offer. I will be working at PCU department. same as you so, let's share some good information later on. And also, a few days ago, I got a phone call from parkland for an interview as well. I don't know whether I go or not since I got an offer from other hospital.

Finally, we all get a job as Graduate RN. I sincerely hope that we all begin our first nursing career as RN successfully! Yay! :))

Congratulations everyone!! I will also be working in a tele unit.

Yes we will definitely have to share our experiences with each other yay congrats I am so happy you found something. As far as the interview I guess you could see if you really wanted to work at Parkland.

No, I never got a response from them. It's not for me I guess. I was sad but I'm still glad I have a job I'm very happy for you though. I hope you enjoy your stay there. Med City is a one of the best hospitals in DFW and I'm sure you will learn a lot and will gain positive experiences.

On the brighter side, I will start my training beginning of February. The hospital I will be working for also offers extensive training, people are also very nice, and they offer good benefits. The only downside is it's a little far from where we live (which is why I preferred Med City).

We can definitely share experiences, tips and resources once we start training. Just PM me.

It's a bummer that you never heard back from them. I am glad you accepted the offer at the other facility and they are willing to extensively train you. Everyone has to start somewhere and you never know the impact you will have on your future patients. You were meant to bethere and once you gain experience it will be so much easier to find something in DFW whenever you are ready. Good luck with everything and I will definitely PM youwhenever I start :)

Could someone tell me when Medical City posts their internships? I graduate May 2013, and I've been looking at their website with no luck. Any help is appreciated!
