Does anyone know any information about LBJ hospital in Houston ?? Been a nurse for 6yrs and I'm looking to take a position at this hospital. Help plz

Its a government hospital like Ben Taub Hospital so its a very busy hospital. That hospital use to be AWFUL!!! However it was renovated and you can't tell its a government hospital anymore. My SIL's mother passed away there and we were treated so well, as opposed to when another one of my SIL's had her child there 15 years ago and it was like a hospital you see in a horror movie lol lol no joke!

To be a bit more accurate. LBJ & Ben Taub are the two teaching hospitals in the Harris County Hospital District - one of the largest public health systems in the US. There are also 16 community health centers, the Quentin Mease rehab hospital, school-based health clinics, a big dental clinic, and some mobile health clinics. The two hospitals are affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine & UT Health Science Center for physician training & a jillion nursing schools do clinical rotations in their facilities. Ben Taub is one of the premier trauma care centers in the US and LBJ is a Level II trauma center.

So - yeah... we are justifiably proud of our "public" hospitals. They are not exactly what comes to mind when you think of this sort of facility. I hope you enjoy your new job. If you're new to Houston - Welcome to our town.

Thanks for replying. I'm coming from a level I trauma center in NY and it is very fast paced/busy all the time. I was actually thinking of a different environment but I guess it doesn't hurt to stick to what I know already

Hey houTx I see you work in critical care have you worked at this facility before? If so are they computerized with everything cause I would hate having to move backwards? Thanks for the warm welcome and wishes :)
