I just got accepted into Kilgore College LVN to RN program i would like any feedback anyone has at all. Honest only please. Good as well as bad pleaaassee! thank you. just nervous a little :)

hi ashley, The only positive (which is a big one), is that you can do this in less than 18 months

the negatives are a few. IF you are an older student, for some reason, you are picked on by the staff, usually in clinicals... I have no idea why, I have witnessed with all the older students from the teachers. They will do or say things to them that are down right brutal. All the staff is older except 2 younger teachers. To me the younger teachers are alot more kinder than the older teachers to the older students, and Like I said, I do not understand why they pick on the older students but they do. Each semester it was like they tried to find an older student to rag on till they dropped or they found reasons such as paper work for clinicals, or something that your rn nurse said to the clinical teacher that was not perfect. ect. One thing they do is assessments of your client (patient), and you have to memorize these lists, and what was okay for a younger student was never okay for the older.. I really can't explain it, except the bullying was really weird from the teachers. Some of the young students picked up on it, and they would collectivly HELP the teacher "find things" to gripe about, like a bunch of middle schoolers. SO.. IF YOU ARE OLDER STUDENT.. NEVER talk, and I mean NEVER, not to anyone, the teacher or other students, SIT in the farthest seats in lecture so the teacher will not notice you as much.

Now the other negatives, is that 2 of the teachers do drugs, or DID do drugs and are teachers because they are not allowed to be nurses anymore (state band them). One of the teachers, I won't say her name but she has blond hair and loves to do clinicals, does drugs during clinicals. and she gets real b..... So becareful, to stay away from her as much as possible.

The only other negative is that like I said they try to make some one an example each semester in each class to get them kicked out. So just because you pass 1st , 2nd, 3rd level, doesn't mean 4th is a complete pass. You have to play the political PR game , and mainly stay out of the teachers way, don't ask questions, try to get through that program with out them EVER memorizing your name. There are about 60-80 in each class.

STUDY STUDY STUDY, know your most common meds, they will tell you what they are, and don't let anything intefer with you from going to school. because you miss even 1 whole day, you are kicked out of the program.

A friend of mine went through TYLER JUNIOR COLLEGE, at the same time I went, and I would tell her what happened, and sometimes I would just video it on my phone, during lecture class, (not the lecture because they have rules) but the bullying, and it was insane. She said tyler junior college is not like that, and they have only 20 or so in each class, and the teachers are awesome, none of them do that bullying. so if you can get in that program, I would, but the draw back its in 24 months instead of 18 months. anyways, take care and I wish you the best on your experience.
