It's do-able. I completed my BSN while working compressed weekends (32 hous) on an Ortho unit.. and had 2 very young kids. Of course, I had to give up a few things.... like major house cleaning, ironing, grocery shopping, lawn maintenance, etc. I didn't have a single day "off" in 2 years but it all worked out OK. Thank heavens I had a spouse who was a fully engaged parent & he picked up the slack. Hmm, come to think of it, I never actually resumed laundry or ironing - LOL.

Maybe it would be better not to work during your first semester until you see how it goes, but you could probably continue to work if you have a job with non-traditional or flexible hours. But remember, you will still have the same amount of hours in a day so something's got to give. Just decide on what you can do less of or stop doing.

Thanks Houstx, I will consider that heavily @:lol2:

i know two nurses who graduated from nursing school and also worked in a hospital. they were nurse techs but i dont know what they did the first semester of nursing school. i think its doable as well. i intend on continuing my employment while in nursing school. i work on the weekends as well but my job is not that stressful so i can study while at work.
