Collin College Spring 2013 applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I recently applied to the nursing program for Spring 2013 but have not been a student at Collin College. I have heard numerous things about how you get accepted, the importance of the PSB score, whether or not you have a degree, etc. Anybody out there in the same boat as me? Wondering what's true and what isn't? I was also told we should get letters in the mail some time around September 11 either being accepted or rejected. True?

Any knowledge on this would be great!

Is there anyone out there starting in January with us that wouldn't mind trading their Wednesday clinical with me for Thursday?
I am not sure that you will be able to trade that easily. If you do find someone willing to trade, be sure to call the office and get it approved by them so that you can be put into the correct group.

Is there a place similar to this where all of our classmates can post? If not I can set something up, but if there are already resources, like a google group for RN students at Collin, it would certainly come in handy.

It would be a good idea to set up a closed Google site and/or Facebook page for the class so you can all communicate with the entire class a little easier :)

I'm in the same boat, nursing field of study major, and I'm trying to get my GI Bill benefits in as soon as possible. I sure am glad I got my "permit codes" the day campus closed for christmas break. Couldn't they have just as easily registered all of us for our classes, it's not like we had a choice in which instructor we wanted or anything. See you all at school Jan 2, 8:00 am. I'll bring the donuts.

Once we have access to blackboard there are usually very handy class discussion tools available and you have access to message instructors and classmates directly.

Here's a link to the form for changing your major.

Fill out your personal info and then circle *Nursing RNSG AAS on page 2 (I printed front/back.)

It's probably a good idea to bring your acceptance letter along with you when turning in the form.

Did I miss something at the orientation? I thought our next get together was the next orientation on January 14 at 9am. Please, fill me in:)

Yes, but even the instructors will encourage you to set up something outside of that because you will use it during breaks and the summer to set up things for the class, such as sharing notes, advice, cool reference links, asking questions, encouragement, etc... and Blackboard is not available in between semesters. No one from my class uses Blackboard to communicate. It's not very user friendly for mobile users. Up to you guys though, just a suggestion ;)

Are iPhone users good with Google groups? Android is fine with those, and they can also be easily used over the Web on a regular computer, as well as optionally get everything by email.

Some of us are unable to register for our classes because our major is for nursing field of study and not the nursing associate of applied science. We will be going up to school after christmas break to make the necessary changes, there is no official meetup for this. If you registered without a problem just make sure you turn in your stuff for the 4th and we'll see you the 14th.
