Hello,
I have a few questions about NCLEX application process. I am so confused and not sure what I am supposed to do. I don't have anybody to ask this type of questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
I am currently living in San Diego, CA. I just graduated last week from nursing school. I applied for NCLEX examination back in October and still is waiting for them to give me an "ok" to take the exam. Last week, I've got a job offer from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee. The new grad program starts in Feb. 2014. I need to have my RN license by the program start date. Back in October, I wasn't sure whether I would get a job at VUMC, so I just submitted California Application for NCLEX and did Live Scan Fingerprint. This is where I am confused about. Initially I was going to take the NCLEX for California, but now that I know where I am going to work, I want to take the NCLEX for Tennessee. I don't want to go through endorsement, because that will take time and cost money. My question is 'do I have to take the NCLEX in California if I submitted NCLEX application to CA Board of Registered Nursing? If I want to get RN licensure for TN, do I need to submit another application to TN board of registered nursing?
Any suggestions/recommendations would be helpful. Thank you in advance:)

From my understanding you can take the NCLEX anywhere. You will need to submit an application for the TN license. It cost me about $150 total, I think, to get my TN license.
Thank you so much for the info! That really helps:) Thanks.
No problem! I did have to do my background check here and also had to submit official transcripts to the TN BON. It didn't take long either, just a few weeks.
It took you a few weeks? That's good to know. Hopefully my application goes through quickly. Exactly how long did it take for you to get the authorization to take NCLEX??
Hmm, I graduated May 13, got my ATT about 2 weeks later and tested June 17!
