TEAS grading system?!?

Nursing Students TEAS

I am getting ready to take the TEAS 6 test next month! I've studied everyday for a month and am constantly writing down my scores from practice tests to see how I've improved.

My question is reguarding the grading system... I've heard multiple people tell me that in each section there are some questions that are not graded? This is confusing me a little because now I'm not sure how I should be calculating what my ACTUAL score is. (The official TEAS 6 study guide states: the test is 170 questions, 20 of which are unscored pretest items. Thus, the number of scored questions on which you will be evaluated is 150).

For example:

Reading in the TEAS 6 section has 53 questions. Yesterday I took a practice test and scored 40/53. This equals out at a 75%.

Now, since "technically" only 47 of the 53 questions are graded (according to ATI) does this mean I should be calculating 40/47? Which would then equal out to an 85%, which is a big difference.

Having trouble understanding? Any clarity would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

You can't know what to calculate because you will never know which questions are or aren't scored. They are jumbled together so my suggestion is to just not worry about it. Hopefully, if you miss a question on the exam, it will be one of the ungraded questions. That's the most you can do in my opinion.

Thank you for your reply. I guess you're right, no way to know exactly. Guess i'll just have to study super hard! :)
