my Teas V scores & a question

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

(SOME background info) I attend a community college in sacramento, ca and there is a TON of students that apply to the nursing program every year. I eventually want to be an RN, but I am trying to become an LVN first. This way, I can work while finishing up my preReqs for the RN program and make some money while getting work experience as a nurse. (The wait for RN program is insane, so I want to do the LVN-RN mobility program) Both the RN and LVN program have lottery applications at my school. In september, I will be applying to the LVN program for the 3rd time! ANYWAY, they are just now starting to implement that students applying for the LVN program take the TEAS test before applying. (I think they are hoping to lessen the number of applicants or something)

OKAY, so now that you know all that, heres my question-I took the TEAS V yesterday, and I noticed that for "program Type" my score paper says BSN. I'm only trying to apply for LVN right now! DID I TAKE THE WRONG TEST?? Or is there only one test and they score you according to program type? I'm confused!

I thought it was hard! I've never taken any chem or microbiology courses and I only had about 2 weeks of study time. (I also work full time so I didn't get a lot of study time in) I managed to pass...but im not happy with my results. (And I cant take it again, my school only accepts the 1st passing score)

My adjusted ind. total score was 68% (my school requires a 62)

national mean-64.3%

program mean-70.6%

Reading-78%

math-80%

science54%

lang usage- 63%

I know I could've done better. :( oh well. At least I passed.

The test is the same. The program is just for reference on your test results where it says "Mean- program" and "Percentile- Program" that indicates how did versus other test takers in that program (LPN, ADN, BSN). So in your case those numbers do not apply because you put in (or the default setting) BSN and not LVN.
