Anyone know how the TEAS is scored?

The college I'm applying to you must receive a composite score of 58.7% or higher on the TEAS exam. Can anyone give me tips on the grading scale? Is it out of 100%? If not is 58.7% hard to do? I talked to the school today and they advised me to start studying since they still have spots open for fall, but it makes me nervous with so little time and not being the best test taker.

Any tips will help

Thank you!

Yes, it's out of 100. 58.7 is well below the national average. Should not be hard to do -- but I don't know you, your knowledge, or your study habits.

I will say, take it seriously and do not wait until the last minute to prepare. When do you need to have it completed by, in order to apply for fall?

Well, if I study I usually surprise myself with how well I do. Have you taken the TEAS? She didn't give me an exact date. She just said they have a few spots open stil for fall. Then told me spring admission starts June 30th so I'm thinking I want to take it before then but don't know if a month is long enough to study or I'm just freaking myself out. -_-

Hello I took it and crammed it 13 days. I failed. But like someone said beforehand you're studying skills and your lifestyle might be different from ours. I work overnights full time and I have 3 kids. I rescheduled mine for August. and I also signed up for the June one month review course which is supposed to review everything in depth and how to read the questions and do the math problems etc etc that's actually on the test. I actually do know someone who studied for 2 weeks with two children and working overnights and passed it and she was in the middle 80s. So it all depends. I wish you the best of luck and please keep us updated.. oh and please don't sell yourself short period I took the test and I actually thought it was pretty hard but that's coming from a female who hasn't been to school since the late 90s. Don't underestimate yourself and please don't underestimate this test study and study hard and if you do have a study manual please take what's in the study manual and Google it or YouTube it know as much information as you possibly can get about that subject that you're studying that's something that I had to learn.

Have you taken the TEAS?

Yes, I have, and I scored a 92 -- which is in the 99th percentile. Highest score my advisor had ever seen. BUT. I knew it was coming for months and I took it very seriously. This score was a large part of determining whether I made it into the program of my choice, and my family's future depended on that score.

I highly recommend getting the TEAS Mastery app for your phone, and start going through it now. Some of it is expected to be over your head -- don't get too discouraged by that. But, it shouldn't ALL feel too difficult or impossible. If it does, you may need to give yourself more time.

I'd talk to her and find out THE date you need to have it completed by, in order to apply for fall. This is important information. Because yes, one extra day of studying CAN make a difference in your score. Every point counts -- especially if they are accepting you based on a scoring system where you are up against other people's scores.

Another thing to consider is that you can purchase TEAS practice tests on their website. (ATI). If you are really serious and determined, take Practice A or B right now. See how you do. Those practice tests are very similar in content and format to the actual TEAS exam you will take on test day. It would be a great indicator of where you stand, and what you need to focus on.

WOW, Great job! It is very important to me as well. I have finished all the other requirements this is just the last step of my application. I will defiantly get the app thank you! Did you purchase any study material from the ATI website? I was just looking at the study package and they're asking $209 which I'm a student so that won't be happening.

As others have replied it is out of 100. I took it in February and scored 83 which I believe is 92nd percentile. It helps to have recently finished A&P. The questions that were from my current quarter I did very well on, but there were others that were osteo and neuro that I hadn't taken for three years and I had a harder time. I used the Mometrix Study Guide and their associated videos, many are available free on YouTube. I also purchased the ATI guide and started with that one but was discouraged by the errors. I took all the test exams in both books and scored much lower than I did on the actual TEAS.

Also note, that not all of the questions count into their grading. So like the math had 36 questions but only 30 I think were scored.

Good luck!

Yay congrats on your results. That's what I'm afraid of the ATI package study guide is so pricey so I'm trying to figure out the best resources that are more reasonably priced.

Thank you for the feed back!!

I did not buy the study package -- just the practice tests. I decided that in the last week or so, and I feel they were worth every penny.

I used a combo of other less expensive resources. The secrets book, the mastery app, khan academy, etc.

The TEAS isn't hard you just need to prepare. It seems like the people who do poorly aren't giving it enough time to review the material. I got a 97%. I bought a study guide book from barnes and noble and went through the entire book before the exam to make sure I was familiar with the material. I would advise to make sure you've completed AP I and 2 before testing as well. Large amount of questions from those particular areas!

Ok, that makes me feel a lot better. I will make sure to prepare myself, I have taken AP 1 & 2 as well. Hoping to take it the end of June.

I studied for 6 weeks but got a bad grade, still passed though. But with the amount of studying I did, it's still not so good of a grade... science was the hardest and the lowest and it's the subject that I focused on the most, and math was my highest which I barely touched up on. My friend who only studied the night before got a 58 but that's not enough for the program. But still, focus on studying for it.
