Shadowing a CRNA

Hi All, I will be shadowing a CRNA school, and I am trying to come up with some questions to ask. I don't want to come across as a complete dummy while shadowing. If you all could help me come up with some questions, it would be greatly appreciated. All of us prospects have to stick together!

take it easy, you just stand and observe them doing intubation, they make it look so easy in the OR setting, the crnas I followed asking me about my gpa and they told me that we are not gonna use that much of an ICU experience, as far as they told me anesthesia is a different ball game, even I felt the same, I guess we learn that in the school. just chill

I think that the really important thing is for you to pay attention to what is going on. It is always appropriete to ask "why" when you see something new. My first time shadowing was when I was still in nursing school... I wasn't even working yet. I knew very little about the OR, much less anesthesia. I barely knew how to run an IV. Anyway, it was a really good experience, and I don't think that they will see you as a dummy. Most of the time, you will be admired for putting forth the effort to learn and get familiar with the profession.

Probably the most important thing is for you to find out if the profession is what you really want to do (not just because it is good money).

Good luck,

Jen
